Wi-Fi Synchronization

Wi-Fi synchronization is designed for users, who prefer to sync directly with PC, without involving any web servers and for those, who have large amounts of OneNote data and they want to sync it faster.

MobileNoter Wi-Fi Edition is being purchased by a one-time payment instead of a subscription fee. The price is higher, but you do not have any time limit using the app.

MobileNoter allows synchronizing OneNote notebooks 2 ways, from PC to iPhone/iPad and back. High quality of formatting in synced Notebooks allows you to see your data in the same formatting and layout and it was entered in OneNote.

To synchronize OneNote data you need to do the following:

  • Select the notebooks you want to sync in the Windows Sync Client
  • Select your PC on the iPhone/iPad and pair the devices
  • Synchronize them by pressing the “Sync” button on the iPhone/iPad

How to set up the iPhone/iPad application

Make sure that your PC and iPhone/iPad are on the same Wi-Fi network. Select the notebooks you are going to sync in the Windows Sync Client.

Open the Settings menu:

Tap on the "PC Name button". Here you need to select your PC in the list (The Apple Bonjour service is required for automatic detection) or type in its name or IP address. After this there will be a PIN-code shown. You need to enter this PIN-code on the PC.

Once you've paired your device with PC, tap the "Sync" button to start synchronization.

First time synchronization can be quite long, depending on the size of your notebooks. Please wait while it finishes. When finished, you can see your notebooks on the home screen. You now can browse for your OneNote data on iPhone/iPad. Pages look exactly the same as in OneNote. You can double tap or pinch to zoom in.

Please note that

  • You need to have the Apple Bonjour service installed and running on the PC to make it automatically detected
  • MobileNoter Wi-Fi Edition is using the port 41982 for synchronization. Please make sure that it's not blocked by firewall/antivirus software

Wi-Fi synchronization limitations

Password protected sections.
Content in a password protected section is synced only when a section is unlocked in OneNote. When a section is locked, MobileNoter cannot access it and, thus, the section is skipped on sync.
