Cloud Synchronization

The main idea of the Cloud synchronization is that your notes are synced using the webserver, so you don't need to stay near your PC - you can perform the synchronization anywhere you can access the Internet.

To use the MobileNoter Cloud Edition you need to subscribe. The subscription gives you a non-exclusive right to use the software and a great amount of advantages. Cloud Edition subscribers are also able to use the Wi-Fi Edition for free during their subscription period.

MobileNoter allows synchronizing OneNote notebooks 2 ways: from PC to iPhone/iPad and back. High quality of formatting in synced Notebooks allows you to see your data in the same formatting and layout and it was entered in OneNote.

To synchronize OneNote data you need to do the following:

• Select the notebooks you want to sync in the Windows Sync Client
• Synchronize the MobileNoter Windows Sync Client (manually or automatically, by schedule) with the server
• Synchronize the iPhone/iPad application

In addition to the manual synchronization that you can fire any time by double clicking on the MobileNoter tray icon, you can setup a schedule for the automatic synchronization. You can specify a time interval between the automatic synchronizations. A separate schedule can be specified for OneNote and the Quick Notes synchronization.

Synchronization on the PC side

After synchronization starts you may close the Settings window (even when the sync process is in progress). The sync progress is also reflected on the application icon in the windows tray bar.

You can always return to the settings window or start synchronization by right-clicking the MobileNoter icon in the system tray.

Synchronization on the iPhone/iPad side

You need to enter your account information in the iPhone/iPad application to able to synchronize with the server.

After this, you are ready to synchronize. Tap the "Sync" button to start synchronization.

Controlling what is synced and what is stored on the server

You have full control on the data that is currently stored on the server. You can see the notebooks that are currently on the server in the MobileNoter Windows Sync Client. Notebooks that are selected as available for sync in the Notebooks tab are currently on the server. Please note that if you change a synced notebook list you should sync the app with the server. If you uncheck some notebook and sync the app, the data for this notebook is deleted from the server.

Notebooks location and shared notebooks

Microsoft OneNote allows storing its notebooks both locally and remotely (in a SharePoint Document library, on network share or on other shared locations). MobileNoter is able to sync remote Notebooks.
It is also possible to sync notebooks that are stored on the server and shared among several users. There is no difference for MobileNoter where a notebook is stored. To sync a notebook from the server, it should be opened in OneNote on some PC where the MobileNoter Windows Sync Client is installed.

Cloud synchronization limitations

Password protected sections.
Content in a password protected section is synced only when a section is unlocked in OneNote. When a section is locked, MobileNoter cannot access it and, thus, the section is skipped on sync.

Limitation of storage space on the server.
You have 600 Mb of storage space on the server for your notes.
It is important to note that the data we measure is not equal to the notebook folder on your drive:

• We compress the data before transmitting it
• Large images are resized

As a result, the amount of data that needs to be synced and stored on the server can be in several times lesser than in Microsoft OneNote.
